Install skills in OpenCode

OpenCode looks for skills in .opencode/skills/, .claude/skills/ and .agents/skills/ in a project, and in ~/.config/opencode/skills/, ~/.claude/skills/ and ~/.agents/skills/ for all your projects.

Where OpenCode looks for skills

This project

  • .opencode/skills/
  • .claude/skills/
  • .agents/skills/

All projects

  • ~/.config/opencode/skills/
  • ~/.claude/skills/
  • ~/.agents/skills/

Source: opencode.ai (opens in a new tab), checked 26 Oct 2026.

Install a skill

  1. Copy the skill's folder, with its SKILL.md at the top, into .opencode/skills/ in your project, or into ~/.config/opencode/skills/ for all your projects.
  2. Keep the folder named exactly as the name field in its SKILL.md, as the Agent Skills spec asks.
  3. Or use the Any agent tab on any skill's page here: its commands copy that skill into .agents/skills, which OpenCode also reads, at the commit we checked.

Watch out for

  • OpenCode checks these folders from where you start it up to the root of the git worktree.
  • The name field must match the folder name; other unknown fields are ignored.
