Roo Code looks for skills in .roo/skills/ and .agents/skills/ in a project, and in ~/.roo/skills/ and ~/.agents/skills/ for all your projects.

Install a skill

  1. Copy the skill's folder, with its SKILL.md at the top, into .roo/skills/ in your project, or into ~/.roo/skills/ for all your projects.
  2. Keep the folder named exactly as the name field in its SKILL.md, as the Agent Skills spec asks.
  3. Or use the Any agent tab on any skill's page here: its commands copy that skill into .agents/skills, which Roo Code also reads, at the commit we checked.

Watch out for

  • Folders named skills-<mode>, such as .roo/skills-code, hold skills for that mode only.
  • Project skills override global ones, and the name field must exactly match the folder name.
